Problem:
The following data in the General Properties of documents do not match with the data in Audit Trail:
- Created by
- Updated by
- Out to
For example,
In a sample case of the following two files, the General Properties display the name of user ‘2’ in the fields of Created by, Updated by & Out to.

On the other hand, the Audit Trail reveals that the above two documents were created by user ‘1’ along with the following Additional Data:
In folder 'Document General Properties & Audit Trail do not match'
The Audit Trail of Doc2 shows that user 1 had created and checked out the document. On the contrary, the General Properties display,
Created by = 2
Updated by = 2
Out to = 2
In the Additional Data, the same note is displayed:
In folder 'Document General Properties & Audit Trail do not match'
Solution:
User 2 did not perform any of the document operations in ProjectWise:
- Creation of documents
- Updating documents
- Checking out documents
However, the General Properties still display the name of user 2.
This is because, user 2 deleted the account of user 1 in the past. This transferred the ownership of all documents created or checked out by user 1 to user 2. So, the General Properties display the name of user 2 in the fields of Created by, Updated by & Out to.
The administrators are generally involved in deletion & re-creation of user accounts in ProjectWise, which might lead to this above scenario.
During the deletion process, the user is prompted with the below message:
You are about to delete ‘user’. If the user has documents you will become the owner of the documents owned by ‘user’.
