Error or Warning Message

ERROR MODIFYING TABLE INFORMATION

Explanation

Receive error when adding new attributes to environment, with the name BY.  When adding an attribute, ProjectWise is sending a command to the database to add a column to the table. Certain words are reserved by SQL that will cause the command to fail, its best to avoid these words as attribute names:

Cloud Services

Where can I find information about the Cloud Services?

http://communities.bentley.com/communities/other_communities/sign-in_assistance_and_web_services/w/wiki/24305.bentley-cloud-services-overview

Where do I find Information about User Management roles, for managing permissions related to projects (creating, deleting, etc)?

http://communities.bentley.com/communities/other_communities/sign-in_assistance_and_web_services/w/wiki/25124.user-management

Where do I go for help if I have problems with my account used to access the Cloud Services?

Contact your organizations site administrator, if you are unaware of who that is, contact Bentley support (Website Assistance - User Management Team)

How about the external organizations that will be working with me on this project?

We are working on a process to automate getting the organizations online, in the meantime, contact Bentley ProjectWise support  for any help and questions you may have.  More information on how to invite external users below in the settings section.

Enabling ProjectWise Deliverables Management

Where do I start?

First things first, create a CONNECTED Project

Once the project is created, click on the Deliverables Management tile, and select "Turn on"

If you are not given the option to turn on, follow the instructions on the page, or contact your account manager to enable the Cloud Services for your organization

What ports need to be opened on my firewall?

Addresses and ports that have to be made accessible through firewall in order to be able to use PWDM:
- Bentley CONNECT portal https://connect.bentley.com (port 80 & 443)
- EULA agreement service https://connect-agreement.bentley.com (port 443)
- PWDM web client UI/portal https://connect-btsportal.bentley.com (port 443)
- PWDM back end service/server https://connect-bts.bentley.com (port 443)
- Azure cloud storage for PWDM https://btsprodsa01.blob.core.windows.net (port 443)

In addition, see the following regarding the firewall requirements for the CONNECTION Client (when using PWDM Integrated with PW Explorer)

http://communities.bentley.com/communities/other_communities/sign-in_assistance_and_web_services/w/wiki/23899.connection-client-faq

Integrating with ProjectWise Design Integration

What do I need to integrate Deliverables Management with a project in my existing ProjectWise Datasource?

You will need to install the PWDM Connector for ProjectWise Explorer.  See the following link for details

http://communities.bentley.com/products/projectwise/content_management/f/343469/t/117142

Is there a server side install?

No, nothing needs to be installed on your ProjectWise Integration Server

How do I associate a ProjectWise Design Integration Project with a CONNECTED Project?

In a ProjectWise project (not a standard folder) the properties window will have a CONNECTED project tab.  Here you can associate/change/remove a CONNECTED project.

Can I allow for my ProjectWise attributes automatically populated in a submitted document?

Yes! See this post for more information:

http://communities.bentley.com/products/projectwise/content_management/w/wiki/27899.integrating-projectwise-deliverables-management-with-projectwise-design-integration-attributes

Why do I not see the "Deliverables Management" node under my project?

Make sure the PWDM Connector for ProjectWise Explorer is installed.  Also, verify the project is associated with a CONNECTED project, that CONNECTED project has Deliverables Management turned on, and the CONNECTION Client is running and logged in

What if I am currently using Bentley Transmittal Services v1.0?

There is not currently an upgrade path available from BTS to PWDM, however, you can use both versions side by side on the same project during the transition.

http://communities.bentley.com/products/projectwise/content_management/b/weblog/archive/2016/02/29/did-you-know-you-can-run-bentley-transmittal-services-and-projectwise-deliverables-management-on-the-same-project

Deliverables Management Settings

Where do I configure the PWDM settings?

The majority of the settings are found in the web portal for the project, browse to the CONNECTED project, click the Deliverables Management tile, the settings button can be found in the upper right corner.

The exception is when you are using PWDM integrated with PW Design Integration.  The settings associated with PWDI can be found in PW Explorer, right click on the Deliverables Management Node and select settings.

What happens when I invite an external participant?

The individual will receive an email, prompting them to accept or reject the invitation to work on the project.  Accepting the invitation will direct them to create a location within their organization to access the packages for that project.

See this document for the detailed workflow of inviting an external organization  http://communities.bentley.com/products/projectwise/content_management/m/mediagallery/271500

What are the Submittal attribute mappings labeled as "coming soon"?

Currently, any attributes you wish to be available to an external participant when they send you a submittal will work as described in the above section regarding ProjectWise integration, however what this upcoming feature will allow is for cases when a submittal is received with an attribute unknown to you.  This will allow you to map this value to one of your existing attributes.

Other

Why can I not see the ProjectWise Deliverables Management data in the Project Performance Dashboards?

PWDM is not yet available with the Dashboards, but is coming soon

Where can I find the help file?

Once a project is enabled for Deliverables Management, there is a shortcut to the help file in the upper right hand corner of the Deliverables Management page.  When integrated with ProjectWise Explorer, the help file will be installed with the PWDM Connector for ProjectWise Explorer, which contains the additional information specific to PW Explorer.

Current Revision posted to Content Management Wiki by Molly Watts on 4/28/2017 3:03:50 PM

This technote provides information on the ProjectWise Design Integration Connect Edition Client Unattended Install via Command Line Parameters.  Also included are Feature Customizations through command line parameters.

The ProjectWise Design Integration Connect Edition is not provided with a .msi package anymore, but has an .exe that bundles the ProjectWise Explorer Connect Edition, and the Connection Client.

Command line parameters that are used to set a specific action for installation:

  • -q, -quiet, -s, -silent = silent install

  • -uninstall = uninstall

  • -repair = repair (or install if not installed)

Parameters that are used to select specific packages for installation:

  • ADDLOCAL

  • REMOVE

  • REINSTALL

Available packages (Case-sensitive):

  • DgnNavigatorControlAx

  • AutoCAD2014

  • AutoCAD2015

  • AutoCAD2016

  • PWDeliverablesMGTClient
  • Office2013

  • InDesignCC2015

  • InDesignCS6

  • Revit2014

  • Revit2015 (only available in x64 setup)

  • Revit2016 (only available in x64 setup)

Examples:

Selecting only DgnNavigator and ProjectWise integration for Microsoft Office 2013.

Setup_ProjectWisex64_10.00.01.25.exe -s ADDLOCAL=DgnNavigatorControlAx,Office2013

Also, it is possible to select all packages by using the “ALL” keyword.

For example:

Setup_ProjectWisex64_10.00.01.25.exe -s ADDLOCAL=ALL

Setup_ProjectWisex64_10.00.01.25.exe -s -repair REINSTALL=DgnNavigatorControlAx,Office2013

Changing the location to where ProjectWise will be installed.

PWE_INSTALLDIR, PWE_INSTALLDIR64 parameters are only available for ProjectWise Explorer and are used to set location. For example the following command line will set the install directory to c:\PWE64.

Setup_ProjectWisex64_10.00.01.25.exe PWE_INSTALLDIR="C:\PWE" PWE_INSTALLDIR64="C:\PWE64"

For targeting a specific package, these parameters are available:

  • [Prefix]_ADDLOCAL

  • [Prefix]_REMOVE

  • [Prefix]_REINSTALL

  • [Prefix]_INSTALLDIR (available only for ProjectWise Explorer)

Create good Table Of Content for PDF reports

Revision 2 posted to Content Management Wiki by Darius.Perminas on 5/4/2017 8:20:23 PM

By default there is a form definition name added as a display name in Forms Register. This will also reflect in PDF export when you do this. So the Table Of Content (ToC) won't look too meaningful:

To change that you can define a "Display Name Property" per form definition in Forms Designer (when editing the form definition) and opening the Form Settings menu:

Typically you would have an attribute which uniquely identifies the form, i.e. "Meeting Number" for Meeting Minutes form, and you would select this attribute as Display Name Property. Then, Forms Register and subsequently PDF would have a great looking, referable grid list / Table Of Content.

Current Revision posted to Content Management Wiki by Darius.Perminas on 5/5/2017 5:33:16 AM

If you are collecting forms using mobile device, make sure you have Location Services turned on:

If Location Services setting is on, then longitude and latitude coordinates will be stored for your form.

We are working on the Map feature to be available in Project Portal > Field Data management, that will show forms as a pinpoints on the map:

So if you start collecting forms today, you'll see them on the map in the near future retrospectively.

Current Revision posted to Content Management Wiki by Molly Watts on 5/19/2017 3:43:57 PM

Quite often PWDM users need to send packages to the same distribution list, or use a different default schedule and don't want to reenter the information each time.  This process will show how to utilize drafts as a template to have the information pre populated.

note: this example is based on using the Portal, however the same process can be following when using the ProjectWise Deliverables Management Connector for ProjectWise Explorer

  1. Create New Transmittal

  2. Enter subject to clearly define the use of the template and any other information that might be used for most of the future transmittals (Purpose, Comments, Cover Letter)

  3. Select the Recipients tab and Click “Add Recipients” Select the recipients that will be normally be receiving this type of package, and change the “Acknowledge” and “Response” settings per user as necessary

4. Click “Save Draft”

5. Any internal participant to the project will now be able to log in, and browse to the Drafts page, and use any of the created templates to initiate a New Transmittal

6. Clicking the “Use as a template” button will start a new transmittal with all the information saved in the draft (General, Recipients, Documents, Scheduling)

7. Change/add any details as needed and issue transmittal
